SUMMER COURSE 2025: we offer three workshops as a summer course. This workshop is part three of the course.
You can take one or join all three!

Description: An interactive course to make your art your profession

You are talented and you want to reach your potential. But how do you manage to pay for your groceries with your art? There is much more to being a professional artist than just making beautiful work. “One third of my time is spent studying and sculpting. The rest of the time is spent on technical skills (like molding and casting), and promotion, sales, exhibitions, and contracts.” says the Italian sculptor Micol Cornali, who has established herself in Rotterdam as a figurative artist. If you want to make a living from art, you have to know how to draw attention to your work and therefore understand how marketing and sales work. You have to be able to present your work and make sure you get noticed. Michelangelo found his way in it, although he could never have imagined that even his shopping list would yield something. Do you want help on your artistic journey after school? This is Micol Cornali's recipe:

Program

Day 1: Getting Started in the Artistic Career, transition from school to professional life

Day 2: Photography and Building Your Online Presence

Day 5: Real-World Application and Career Strategy, guidelines to online resources for grants, art residencies, exhibitions and competitions.

Time table

Monday - Friday (10.00-13.00 and 14.00-17.00 h)

Instructor

Micol Cornali resides in Rotterdam and operates in Italy, Spain and The Netherlands. Demonstrating a keen interest in art from a young age, she pursued her artistic education at an art high school, where she had the opportunity to explore various techniques. Having earned two degrees from the Barcelona Academy of Art in 19th-century figurative sculpture and classical painting, Micol Cornali boasts an impressive resume adorned with accolades and exhibitions across Europe and beyond. Initiating her artistic journey, Micol Cornali delved into classical figurative sculpture, captivated by the graceful naturalness and dynamic qualities of the human form. This fascination served as the cornerstone for her artistic trajectory, centered on the exploration of intrinsic classic beauty within humanity. A significant transformation occurred as she purposefully incorporated natural elements, such as real flowers and plants. The intentional selection of materials underscores Micol Cornali's dedication to addressing contemporary environmental concerns and aiming to contribute to the discourse on responsible artistic practices. She perceives her art as a celebration of life and renewal. Currently, Micol Cornali is focused on her own work, while she holds the role of teacher specializing in Écorché and Figurative Sculpture at the Barcelona Academy of Art. Besides she serves as the Art Director of Phoenix, an Art Foundation in Italy.
